Volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions from petrol storage and distribution (Stage I and Stage II - Petrol Vapour Recovery)

Overall State of Play

Evaluation finalised SWD(2017)65

State of play, main conclusions, outlook

The Commission evaluated Directive 94/63/EC on the control of volatile organic compound (VOC-PVR I Directive) emissions resulting from the storage of petrol and its distribution from terminals to service stations and Directive 2009/126/EC on Stage II petrol vapour recovery during refuelling of motor vehicles at service stations (VOC-PVR II Directive).

The evaluation found that both Directives have led to the desired reduction in VOC emissions from petrol storage and distribution. Few, if any problems were experienced during their implementation. No revision of the legislation is envisaged.
