Introduction
This page provides an overview of the key indicators used in the Education and Training Monitor for each EU-level target or indicator area. It puts a spotlight on the context that the EU-level target and indicator areas are embedded in.
The Education and Training Monitor's comparative report tracks progress towards achieving the seven EU-level targets agreed under the 2021 EEA strategic framework Resolution. Only the EU-level target on digital skills is not covered in the 2024 Education and Training Monitor, but it is added to the Monitor Toolbox here.
In addition, the Monitor Toolbox features new EU-level indicators requested in the 2021 EEA strategic framework Resolution. Firstly, it shows the 2022 EU-level indicator on equity in education, proposed as part of the 2022 EEA Progress Report and now recalculated and updated with the latest data. Secondly, the Monitor Toolbox hosts the 2023 teachers’ dashboard, with several indicators capturing the attractiveness of the teaching profession. Thirdly, the brand-new indicator development is presented in the area of learning for sustainability, based on a comprehensive 2024 conceptual framework.
Finally, the Monitor Toolbox features the most prominent indicators and other sources used in the 2024 European Commission report “Investing in Education”, which complements the Education and Training Monitor.
