Welcome to the PublicAccess.eu website
PublicAccess.eu pilot project was launched in 2014 by the European Parliament to facilitate online access to a wider range of unclassified documents held by EU institutions, and to increase the transparency of decision-making in the EU. To achieve the objectives of the pilot project, the following main strands of activities were identified as bearing particular interest:
i) enrichment of the EUR-Lex website - the gateway to EU law - with new types of documents,
ii) creation of a showcase allowing to test possible future ways of displaying legal information, and
iii) carrying out a study on integrated access to publicly available EU documents.
The work done under the pilot project resulted in tangible improvements of EUR-Lex: a wealth of new information and documents related to the different preparatory stages of law-making procedures is now available and presented to the user in a way that follows the logic of the adoption process. Other concepts tested in the framework of the pilot project will still be implemented in practice. They will namely translate into developments focused on providing seamless and user-friendly experience when navigating through the EU legal information. The work will also continue on further enrichment of EUR-Lex by new types of documents.
