The Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the European Union and the Publications Office of the European Union are organising an event dedicated to the importance of publishing public procurement data and its impact for businesses and policies.

Public procurement in Europe represents € 2 trillion/year, of which approx. € 460 billion is published in TED.

Publication of public procurement is a condition to ensure transparency, which is essential for competition and equal treatment thus contributing for the efficient use of public money and preventing corruption.

Public procurement can be used to boost the economy; publication at EU level opens business opportunities beyond national frontiers and is one of the pillars of the single market.

The purpose of this event is to reflect on improving our current ways of managing and exploiting procurement data and to share best practices and experiences, identify opportunities to cooperate, exploit synergies and reduce red tape.

The conference will consist of a series of plenary sessions and parallel workshops where we would like, in a pragmatic way, to touch upon different aspects related to procurement data such as data usage (what data can be used for), challenges in creating quality data (which data do we get, how do we get the data), and access to data (how do we publish it and how do we facilitate access for business, analysis, policy making and monitoring).

For more details please see the agenda.

The deadline for the registration is 24 May 2018
