Encouraging Innovation in Motion Control Systems for Vehicles (MOCO)

Project impact

Automated and electric vehicles are becoming increasingly popular in Europe. But how safe are they? The MOCO project aims to address concerns about the safety and efficiency of these vehicles, as well as their ability to navigate challenging road conditions. The project brings together 14 academic and industrial partners from Europe, Japan, Mexico, South Africa and South Korea to exchange and train researchers in designing and testing new systems for these vehicles. This includes designing advanced motion control systems for automated vehicles and developing tools to boost their safety, energy efficiency, driving performance and ride comfort. The project views long-term placements in industry as a key goal, as they allow researchers to understand what innovations are needed for wide-scale deployment, ensuring that their work is directly applied to improving vehicles in real-world conditions. The project will also use the results to create practical recommendations for researchers, manufacturers and suppliers of automated vehicles.
