This first special section of the newly revamped Research*eu magazine, is raising awareness of mental health disorders and the individuals who struggle with them on a daily basis. It is doing this by showcasing some of the innovative EU-funded projects that have dedicated themselves to developing solutions (medical, technological and regulatory ones) to tackle the mental health crisis in Europe and worldwide. Investment in research and innovation through Horizon 2020, the European Commission’s research and innovation framework programme, has an enormously positive impact on Europe’s competitiveness, strengthening market deployment of new discoveries and innovations. The European Commission’s Research*eu magazine is one of the pillars of public outreach through our strategic partnership with CORDIS and the Publications Office of the European Union. The magazine showcases a broad range of research and innovation results, making it an essential dissemination channel for Horizon 2020 projects. Research*eu is published 10 times per year, in print and multilingual web editions, and it proudly aims to disseminate innovative EU-funded research results and facilitate the growth of truly Open Science in Europe and beyond. After 75 issues, the magazine is being relaunched, with a revamped and refreshed look and content. We are confident that the impact of CORDIS will grow, as it tracks the breakthroughs of EU research and innovation efforts and communicates them beyond the world of research. The new-look magazine will undoubtedly be a key tool in engaging with a wide range of scientists, businesses, policy makers and citizens. It will support the European Commission’s goals of boosting the uptake of EU-funded research results by industry, investors and indeed, by citizens, stimulating innovation and strengthening growth across the EU, thus paving the way for the ambitions of the future research and innovation framework programme, Horizon Europe.
