The overall objective of this study is to support the impact assessment (IA) that will accompany the proposal for a revision of the Transport Regulation, by identifying and analysing quantitative and qualitative data on the expected significant animal welfare, economic, social and environmental impacts of the actions proposed, and comparing the policy options and their possible refinement. Particular attention is paid to complex and problematic issues, such as long journeys (exceeding eight hours), transport to third countries, transport of vulnerable animals, transport of farmed fish, transport of cats and dogs, and adaptation to new technologies.
