The Expert Group on Interoperability of European Public Services was set up in February 2020 with members representing the national public administrations of the European Member States and observers from EFTA and candidate countries. One of its roles is to provide advice and expertise to the Commission in relation to the preparation of the legislative proposals and policy initiatives. The following policy recommendations are expressed by the Member States to the European Commission. They will be one of the cornerstones for the upcoming European Commission policy proposal on the next interoperability policy and will accompany the impact assessment of policy options and evaluation of the European Interoperability Framework. The recommendations have been co-designed and co-created by the members of the Expert Group on Interoperability throughout a series of brainstorming sessions, workshops, bilateral discussions with the European Commission and written contributions spanning almost a year.
