Veiligheidsinformatiebladen (safety data sheets, SDS’en) geven gebruikers van chemische stoffen alle informatie die ze nodig hebben om de menselijke gezondheid en het milieu te kunnen beschermen. Gebruikers van chemische stoffen zijn ondernemingen of individuen binnen de Europese Unie/Europese Economische Ruimte die een stof, hetzij als zodanig, hetzij in een mengsel, gebruiken bij hun industriële
activiteiten of beroepsactiviteiten. Veiligheidsinformatiebladen zijn bestemd voor zowel de werknemers die met de chemische stoffen omgaan, als degenen die verantwoordelijk zijn voor de veiligheid. De indeling van het veiligheidsinformatieblad is vastgelegd in de REACH-verordening. Het blad is onderverdeeld in 16 rubrieken. In het volgende deel van deze gids wordt elk van de rubrieken beschreven.
