This annex provides a summary of the literature reviewed in the context of the potential impact of actions supported under Measures 8 and 15 of the Rural Development Programmes implemented in Member States and regions of the EU. The purpose of the literature review is to look at the evidence of impacts of different forest management methods, independently of whether they are financed by EAFRD or not, in order to draw conclusions about whether the actions supported by the RD FM are effective in delivering against environment and balanced territorial development (BTD) objectives. The review identifies those practices that are not generally supported through RD FM, particularly where they are detrimental to environmental objectives. Literature reviews have been carried out on the effects of forest management practices relevant to biodiversity, forest health, forest soils, water, climate mitigation and adaptation and balanced territorial development. These reviews are used primarily to enable the assessment of potential impacts of forest measures for evaluation question six (EQ6) on effectiveness of the RD FM on environmental and balanced territorial development objectives.
