HomeStrengthening of AFIC as an instrument to fight serious cross-border crimes affecting Africa and the EU

The Africa-Frontex Intelligence Community (AFIC) was set up in 2010 to provide a framework for regular information sharing in the field of migrant smuggling and other border security threats affecting African countries and the EU. It foresees close cooperation with selected third countries along the entire smuggling route. This is done through a series of capacity building activities which aim to develop national and regional strategies, set up integrated border management systems, strengthen police and criminal justice responses, as well as to improve the collection, sharing and analysis of data relevant to cross border crime.
