The 2021 EU industrial R&D investment scoreboard

The 2021 edition of the Scoreboard reports on the 2500 companies that invested the largest sums in R&D worldwide in 2020. It is a tool used to benchmark the performance of EU companies from key innovation-driven sectors against their major global counterparts. The Scoreboard is unique in terms of the size and timeliness of the world sample analysed. The coverage in terms of the level of R&D invested by these firms is equivalent to approximately 90% of the world’s business-funded R&D. In addition, the Scoreboard dataset comprise the companies’ R&D locations, patents portfolio and 10-year historic data allowing robust trend analyses.
