This report presents the analysis of the results of Task 1 (Mapping of national rules on insurance). The purpose of Task 1 was to provide a complete overview of the relevant legal frameworks in the EEA countries and the UK, with regards to professional indemnity insurance requirements and guarantees imposed on selected service providers in 10 sectors, and focusing on those requirements covered by Article 23 of the Services Directive. Article 23 of the Services Directive allows Member States to require providers to subscribe to professional liability insurance or to provide a guarantee or similar arrangements with respect to the provision of services which present a direct and particular risk to the health and safety of the recipient or a third person or to the financial security of the recipient. To this end, the main objective of this task was to: - Identify and describe the main features of national requirements in place for professional indemnityinsurance and guarantees and the conditions and procedures of equivalence in the case of establishmentand cross-border provision of services.
