EX-post evaluation of the EU forest action plan

The EU Forest Action Plan (COM(2006)302) is the main instrument for the implementation of the EU Forestry Strategy (1998).. The EU Forest Action Plan covers activities in 2007-2011 with the goal to contribute to long-term competitiveness, enhance and protect the environment, contribute to quality of life and improve coordination and communication. The aim of the ex-post evaluation is to: - Provide a review of the implementation, effectiveness and appropriateness of the EU Forest Action Plan; - Analyse whether the objectives of the EU Forest Action Plan have been met, the Action Plan has led to any side effects, the instruments used are appropriate, relevant, effective and efficient and what was the role of the key actors; - Examine whether the EU Forest Action Plan is the most suitable framework for forest related actions and instrument of coordination between the Community and Member States. These analyses are carried out in the light of key developments for the forest sector at Member State, European and international levels.
