This document is the 21st report on environmental radioactivity published by the Health and Safety Directorate of the Commission of the European Communities. It has been prepared from data gathered at the stations which monitor environmental radioactivity in the Member States. The results are taken from the data communicated to the Commission of the European Communities in accordance with Article 36 of the Treaty of Rome establishing the European Atomic Energy Community. The results contained in the report refer to radioactivity measurements for air, deposition, surface water and milk during 1981 in the ten Member States of the European Community (Belgium, Denmark, Federal Republic of Germany, Greece, France, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, The Netherlands and United Kingdom).
