UK-Londres: Obras de construção total ou parcial e de engenharia civil
The National Army Museum (NAM) is in the process of redeveloping its facilities at Chelsea, London, to create a facility fit for the future. The scheme involves the creation of a major new central court, in the heart of the existing building, around which the permanent galleries will be arranged over a number of floors. Additionally, the project will include the creation of a new visitor reception including external landscaping, commercial areas, archive facilities and an educational suite. The project also includes the interpretative design and fit out of the permanent gallery spaces created.
The NAM is currently seeking to appoint a Design and Build Team to progress the project from concept design through to completion. The Lead Architect/Designer will be required to appoint all professional elements to complete the work and co-ordinate all contractors and sub contractors work. The Team will work closely with the Project Manager (appointed separately) to ensure value for money. In their presentation to the NAM Project Board, the Team will be required to show innovation in design and it will be essential that the successful tenderer shows that all materials planned to be used in the project come from sustainable sources and the carbon footprint for the production and delivery of any such materials is reduced to a minimum. Additionally, the successful team will have to show innovation in the design of galleries and the display of collections, paying particular regard to conservation standards and accessibility for the public. The Team will be required to ensure that all statutory, local authority and any other such regulations are complied with and any notices required to be submitted to statutory bodies are submitted in adequate time so as not to cause unneccessary delays.
In the first instance the Design and Build Team will be appointed to assist in the delivery of the project to RIBA Stage D by 31.10.2013 when the plans will be presented to Heritage Lottery Fund for approval to Round Two. Should the NAM be successful in this application, the project will then be delivered in its entirety - RIBA E to completion - over the period March 2014 to July 2016. It is the intention of the NAM to continue to employ the same project team through to completion.
