The conference consisted of a series of welcoming speeches followed by plenary presentations in the following 4 sessions covering the entire “agri-food and seafood chains”: - Session 1. Research and Innovation as key tools to boost the competitiveness of the agri-food and seafood sectors and ensure the production and promotion of safe and healthy diets; - Session 2. Innovation in research and enterprises; - Session 3. Sustainable Food Security: The primary production side; b Session 4. Sustainable and competitive agri-food and seafood sectors for a safe and healthy diet. The presentations gave... an opportunity to review the latest research and innovation developments in the European Agri-Food and Seafood sectors and to discuss further research priorities for the future. The conference, held at the start of Horizon 2020, provided a wealth of information focussing on many different developments, as detailed in Annex 1. It provided an excellent opportunity to discuss the main drivers of change on the whole food chain, to assess the contribution of successful European projects, to shape future research priorities within Horizon 2020, and to raise awareness on research opportunities for food industries.
