EN 1993-Eurocode 3 – Part 1-5 gives unified European design rules for plated structural elements made of steel which may be subject to shear lag and local and/or global plate buckling. As these rules may be novel to many designers who so far have worked with traditional national rules this report with a commentary and worked examples gives information and guidance on the “what”, the “why” and the “how” of the new European rules so that their implementation and use may be facilitated. The report may in particular be used to confirm choices of „Nationally Determined Parameters“ and as a basis for the further harmonisation and future development of the rules.
