According to the terms of reference, the purpose of this project is to provide an interim evaluation of the implementation of the EU-Korea FTA, which will form the basis of a Staff Working Document of the Commission. In particular, the evaluation examines the effectiveness and efficiency of the EU-Korea FTA in view of achieving its objectives, the relevance of the EU-Korea FTA regarding current trade issues faced by the EU and Korea, and the coherence of the EU-Korea FTA with the EU-Korea Framework Agreement and with the objectives of the EU trade policy. In addition, the evaluation analyses the impact of the implementation of the EU-Korea FTA on sustainable development in its economic, social and environmental dimensions, as well as on human rights. The evaluation also provides an in-depth ex-post analysis of the effectiveness of the EU-Korea FTA, in line with the European Commission's new trade strategy "Trade for All“.
