Policy Officer - UN section
UNIDO/UNOOSA-COPUOS/UNCITRAL counsellor is a specialist with proven experience in and knowledge of development issues, space issues and international trade issues. UNIDO requires familiarity with the 2030 Agenda and related international milestone documents, development, energy, environment, climate change, technical cooperation, and capacity building. UNOOSA-COPUOS requires familiarity with the global legal framework governing space and topical space issues in particular long term sustainability, security and safety in space; the use of space technology for sustainable development, internal EU space activities such as Galileo, Copernicus and Egnos and the EU Space strategy. UNCITRAL requires some familiarity with the international legal framework governing trade and some topical issues such as electronic commerce, commercial dispute settlement, insolvency etc. Her/his task is to advise and assist the Delegation on matters related to the EU participation in the work of UNIDO, COPUOS and UNCITRAL and their policy-making organs. (S)he contributes to the cooperation between the EU (EEAS, Council, European Commission and EU Member States) and UNIDO (regular High Level Review Meetings, meetings of the Program and budget Committee, the Industrial Development Board and the General Conference), COPUOS (Scientific and technical subcommittee, Legal subcommittee, COPUOS and 2018 UNISPACE Plus 50) and UNCITRAL (Vienna-based Working Group meetings in the second half of the year). (S)he maintains diplomatic relations with Member States, third countries and Secretariats of IO, and ensures representation of the EU in all relevant fora. (S)he chairs related expert meetings and negotiates on behalf of the EU in relevant fora. She works to strengthen overall coordination of the EU to ensure coherent implementation of the EU policies. (S)he supports the work of the UN section and the delegation in other fields.
