Head of POLITICAL & INFORMATION SECTION (PPI)
Management & coordination of the Political Section, including Press & Information activities, political and socio-economic analysis and reporting • Policy development: Political and economic reporting, visibility strategy *Monitor, analyse and report regularly and in timely fashion as well as on request - on the political and economic situation in Uganda as well as on any regional significant political and economic developments in EAC, IGAD, Great Lakes etc. * Contribute to political dialogue in areas including democracy, human rights, foreign and security policy, economic growth and governance. * Coordinate Delegation’s press and information activities * Contribute to EU local representation and the coordination with resident and non-resident EU Member State missions • Representation, Negotiation, Participation * Maintain close working relations with relevant national authorities, political parties, EU Member State missions and other relevant organisations and institutions such as UN agencies, third country missions, business and civil society organisations. * Prepare and assist in missions from Headquarters * Support the EU Special Representative to Sudan with regard to the LRA issues • Management and planning: section management * To assist the Head of Delegation in defining the strategy and policies of the section and in organising the functioning of the section, including Press & Information activities, and economic analysis. * To plan and manage the activities of the Section and allocate tasks and responsibilities to the section staff, including Local representation, Monitoring, Reporting, Press & Information, and in coordination with the Governance & Trade. * To monitor and control section performance, respect of the priorities and fulfilment of the objectives * Acting Head of Delegation, as required • External Communication, Public speaking * To plan and manage the activities of the Press Officer, presentation of EU activities through coordinated Press & Information actions • Programme management * Assistance in the identification of cooperation priorities in the human rights, governance and democracy area and in the setting up of projects in areas of concern * Ensuring effective management of existing cooperation programmes in areas of concern
