Head of Political section
Under the responsibility of the Head of delegation, the Head of the political section will assist him in his functions. He will in particular be in charge of: • following the political priorities determined by the Head of Delegation and achieving the objectives fixed by the Head of Delegation during his mandate as described in his Lettre de mission – long term and short term goals; • having regular bilateral contacts with the government of Ghana (in particular with Foreign Affairs senior officials) and prepare for the article 8 political dialogue meetings and CFSP demarches; • representing the delegation at the appropriate level in the relationships with the Ghanaian authorities, regional and international organizations and any other relevant stakeholders such as political parties, CSOs, think tanks…; • organizing regular meetings with the EU political officers and like-minded; • following up and reporting on the local and regional political situation, the Foreign policy of the country and any other relevant matters related to the interests of the EU; • following up the human rights, governance, elections and security issues in the country and report, if needed with the contribution of the governance section ; • coordinating the public diplomacy activities of the delegation and implementing the annual communication action plan, and in liaise with the operation sections for the visibility of the EU cooperation; • preparing information files, statements and press releases whenever requested by the HOD or the headquarters. II/2014 objectives 1. political reporting • Monitor, analyze and report regularly in timely fashion and on request on the political situation in Ghana as well as on any significant political development; • Organize regular meetings with EU political officers and like-minded and develop contacts with Ghanaian stakeholders (electoral commission, political parties, CSOs in particular) notably in the perspective of the local elections and a possible referendum on the constitution at the end of the year; • Prepare reports at the requests of the HOD and/or EU HOMs 2. Preparation, report and implementation of political dialogue decisions and CFSP • preparation and reporting on the CFSP demarches; • preparation of political dialogue article 8 and follow up . 3. Assist the Head of Delegation in implementing the Strategy on political priorities • follow up on the implementation of the priorities as described in the Head of delegation Lettre de Mission (long term and short term goals). 4. Increase the visibility of the EU activities • implementation of the delegation 2014 communication action plan and strategy; • increase of public diplomacy activities in coordination with the member states. 5. As newly appointed Delegation security coordinator and Registry Control Officer in 2014 • implementation of all the tasks related to the new duties.
