Description

The gymnasium and multi-purpose hall in Erkelenz - district Kückhoven is part of the infrastructure of the formerly independent municipality Kückhoven. The multi-purpose hall is located in the district of Kückhoven and initially serves as a gym for school and club sports. In addition, it is available to local associations as an event hall, which is a meeting place within the meaning of the Special Construction Ordinance (SBauVO NRW). The hall was built in the core in 1956 and expanded in 1980. The building is divided into a two-storey head building with windbreak, equipment rooms and a changing area, the actual multi-purpose hall with 305 m2, an upstream one-storey changing and sanitary area and a rear one-storey area with storage, technology and lounges. This usable area is currently 1,030 m2. In the run-up to these renovations, the existing building was examined in more detail in order to estimate an overview of the necessary renovations and to determine renovation costs. It was found that the building as a whole has a very poor state of entertainment. This is also due to the fact that in the original planning the location Kückhoven was in the opencast mining area, so that at that time necessary construction maintenance work was carried out only to a limited extent. The existing roof covering is old, asbestos-contaminated wave ternite panels. It can be assumed that a new and higher insulated roof covering will require a static reinforcement of the existing supporting structure made of steel lattice girders. In this context, the lightning protection must be renewed, including the discharge on the facade. In addition, there are cracks in the masonry in the area of the adjoining rooms, which must be rehabilitated as part of the measure. The existing external masonry has damage in the joint. Before the refurbishment of the exterior shell and the indicated insulation measures, a comprehensive refurbishment of the load-bearing and stiffening components is therefore necessary. The interior of the building is also in urgent need of renovation. This initially affects all areas of the gymnasium and multi-purpose hall.
