Description

The city of Suhl intends to fundamentally upgrade and redesign the area around the Herrenteich, which is centrally located in the city centre, in accordance with the goals formulated in the urban development framework for the city centre. From the green areas around the Herrenteich, a park with a high quality of stay is to be created, which can be used by residents and visitors of the city to find relaxation, peace and contemplation in the middle of the city in the immediate vicinity of the important facilities of the city center. In connection with the extension of the green areas, this also requires a stronger spatial version of the park with the means of landscape architecture. Due to the outstanding importance of this "green center" in terms of the function and image of the city center, the search for the best design should be the subject of a planning competition for landscape architects. The implementation of the competition aims at an optimized planning with a high quality of stay and free space. The results of the competition form the basis for the construction of the project. The project is to be funded within the framework of the federal programme "Adapting urban and rural areas to climate change". The content of the task will therefore be based on the criteria of this funding programme. It supports innovative conservation and development projects that are exemplary for the adaptation of cities and communities to climate change. According to current estimates, around EUR 1.2 million gross is planned as an investment framework. The area of the competition area is approximately 1.1 ha.
