The Digital Interlocking (DSTW) Harz-Weser-Netz is one of four pre-series projects that implements and tests digital interlocking components and standardized interfaces as part of the Digital Control and Security Technology (DLST) program. The pre-production project Harz-Weser-Netz consists of two sections: Brunswick-South and South Harz. As part of the project, many mechanical interlockings will be replaced by ESTW's. Numerous level crossings are also being renewed, some of which are interlocking-dependent and therefore have to go into operation at the same time.
