Description

Als niemand voorziet in de uitvaart van een overledene is de burgemeester van de gemeente waar het stoffelijk overschot zich bevindt, hiervoor verantwoordelijk. Dat is geregeld in de Wet op de Lijkbezorging (Wlb), artikel 20 t/m 22a. De gemeente Rotterdam is daarom voornemens een opdrachtnemer te contracteren om deze uitvaarten te verzorgen. Daarmee wil de gemeente niet alleen voorzien in haar verplichting in het kader van de Wet op de lijkbzorging, maar ook zorgen voor een waardig afscheid voor overleden Rotterdammers waarvoor geen anderen voorzien in de uitvaart.
