Description

A pulse duplicator system technically removes the hydromechanically relevant components and stress situations of the left/right half of the heart and is used to characterise cardiac valve prostheses under pulsatial river conditions. The test bench consists of a pulse pump, min. a volumetric flow sensor and pressure sensors and associated measurement and evaluation electronics, such as a computer and scanning software. The relevant pressure range shall be between 0 mmHg and 200 mmHg, while the puslatile volumetric flow rate shall vary between 0 and 10 l/min. The test frequency shall be adjustable between 5 and 200 BPM. During the test, the cardiac valve prosthesis shall be observed from two directions, i.e. from the aortal side and from the ventricular side. In addition, the test bench and all its components shall meet the requirements of the standard family ISO 5840.
