United Kingdom-Swansea: Composting services
Bridgend County Borough Council (Bridgend) and the City and County of Swansea (Swansea) form the South West Wales Regional Food Waste Procurement Hub (The Hub) who wish to procure a long-term treatment service for source segregated food waste, utilising Anaerobic Digestion, for the administrative areas (the geographical area of the authorities comprising the Hub (as applicable), or their successors, or any extended geographical region of the authorities comprising the Hub as a result of (but not limited to) any administrative re-organisation of local authorities in Wales) covered by the Local Authorities participating in the Procurement Hub. Swansea is acting as lead Authority for this procurement.
The Hub is seeking a merchant based, services only solution. The Hub seeks a price only for the haulage, receipt and treatment of received waste i.e. a gate fee. The Contractor shall transport food waste from designated locations within each Authority prior to treatment and recycling at the proposed facility(ies). The facilities must hold PAS110 accreditation and conform to the WG standards and guidance within the Food Waste Treatment Programme including the requirements of composting and anaerobic digestion. Contractors with proven technologies and demonstrable output shall be favoured.
