Germany-Weßling: Design and execution of research and development
Main objective of the NEXT-OBP-GeoSat project is the development of an on-board processing unit for conducting scientific in-orbit communication experiments. Within the predecessor project ‘Network Coding Satellite Experiment (NEXT)’ a laboratory demonstration system was developed in hardware and software. The project team consists of the DLR Insitute of Communications and Navigation (DLR-KN) in Oberpfaffenhofen. and IQ wireless GmbH in Berlin. The former is responsible for experiment software development works and project coordination, the latter is in charge of designing the on-board processing flight hardware. Platform will be the geostationary Heinrich-Hertz satellite system (H2Sat) and the works are financed by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (supervised by the DLR Raumfahrtmanagement — DLR Space Administration).
