Description

The Rendsburg waste water treatment plant (ABWRD) operates the Rendsburg waste water treatment plant with an extension of 240.000 p.e. The waste water treatment in larger urban waste water treatment plants, such as Rendsburg (size class 5), has so far been carried out in three stages. On average, more than 95 % of the organic compounds are removed by mechanical, biological and chemical processes. Despite this supposedly very good cleaning performance, substances which are well soluble in water and poorly biodegradable remain in waste water. These compounds are referred to as anthropogenic trace substances or micro-pollutants which, due to their stability, remain in the water cycle in the long term and thus have a negative impact on water quality and water use. Therefore, measures to reduce inputs from anthropogenic trace substances and micro-pollutants in aquatic environments are guided by the precautionary approach and thus also on retrofitting urban wastewater treatment plants with a so-called 4th. Cleaning stage. During the previous planning phases, it was decided to construct an ozone plant for the construction of a fourth clean-up stage at the Rendsburg sewage treatment plant for trace substance limination. The process of incorporation into the waste water treatment plant is between precipitation and sand filtration. The existing sand filtration will be used as biological after-treatment of the ozoned waste water.
