As part of the network expansion and the guarantee of security of supply in the state of Berlin, Stromnetz Berlin GmbH intends to replace a total of 4 substations (UW Tegel, UW Rüdersdorfer Straße, UW Gelnitzstraße and UW Laufner Straße). The 4 substations are Type 14 ring substations (i.e. each substation has 3 110 kV switchboards) built between 1994 and 1997.
