Description

The city of Essen is planning the new central library in Essen city centre. The property Markt 5/6 in 45127 Essen was rented by the city of Essen. For the planning of the new central library, an area of about 10,000 sqm (of which basement about 1,000 sqm) is available. The new concept of the central library is based on the library development concept of the city of Essen, based on the recognition that modern libraries, beyond their actual mission, contribute significantly to strengthening the inner cities in a central location as engines of urban development. Libraries are currently changing their current profile with great dynamism. In addition to offering a wide variety of media, libraries are increasingly becoming low-threshold places of residence and events and so-called "third places". The project task is the redesign of the central library of the city of Essen here: Interior and furnishing. With this Europe-wide negotiated procedure with upstream participation competition, the city of Essen intends to award the delivery and assembly of RFID library technology.
