Germany-Munich: Data-processing machines (hardware)
The Fraunhofer Institute for Short-Term Dynamics plans to renew its storage network by procuring a block-based enterprise storage system and additional required and certified FC switches. The requirements for the system result mainly from the use of numerical simulation in the HPC environment. To this end, the Institute operates several HPC clusters which are connected to the SAN via powerful filers for massively parallel computing use. The system should be able to grow in the coming years with the increasing demands. Therefore, the proposed system must have outstanding characteristics in terms of scalability and expansion. For reasons of capacity and space requirements, only ‘all-flash’ systems are to be used.
