AS35 public facilities Basel SBB and Westkopf 2nd part incl. new Margarethenbrücke - general planning services construction, phases 31-33
On behalf of the Federal Government, SBB is planning an additional crossing with a perron connection at Basel SBB station. This project, called the Audience Facility (Margarethen's Perron Entrance), is intended to open up all the Perrons with a statically independent personal bridge parallel to the Margarethen Bridge. On the one hand, a replacement of the existing Margarethenbrücke (new Margarethenbrücke) must be planned in accordance with the future requirements of long-term rail expansion. On the other hand, the Canton of Basel-Stadt wants to optimise the new bridge for tram, bicycle and foot traffic. The planning of architecture, landscape architecture and civil engineering has already been procured via study contract procedures. The projects also include extensive refurbishment work in the entire track area between Hauptpasserelle Basel SBB and River Birsig. This requires extensive adjustments to the track and perron system. For this purpose, a planning overall management and railway technology coordination is sought.
