Not open single-phase construction-free space design competition "New building of the indoor pool" in Stadtlohn
The city of Stadtlohn is planning to build a replacement for the indoor swimming pool. The existing building was built in 1972 and has been in continuous operation ever since. Some areas of the bath were refurbished in 2002-2003. The indoor pool includes a 25-metre swimming pool with four lanes and a separate teaching pool. An inventory analysis carried out in 2022 concluded that the entire indoor pool requires comprehensive renovation. As a basis for the evaluation of the existing building, an expert report on the load-bearing capacity of the load-bearing structure was also prepared in advance and a pollutant test was carried out. Based on all these findings and with the aim of being able to continue using the existing building for as long as possible during the construction phase, Stadtlohn has decided to conduct a competition for the construction of a replacement building. The Losbergbad is located on Engelbert-Sundermann-Straße in the immediate vicinity of the Berkel, which runs south and whose waterfront has recently been redesigned. The complex consists of an outdoor pool and an indoor pool, both bathing areas are accessed via a common entrance and are open seasonally in alternation. The changing and sanitary area of the outdoor pool, which is located in an extension to the indoor pool, may be dismantled and integrated into the new indoor pool building. The remaining outdoor pool area with outdoor pool has already been renovated in recent years and is not part of the competition task. The Losbergbad is surrounded by an equestrian therapy centre in the west, the Losbergstadion in the east and the Losbergpark in the north. The main entrance and the associated parking spaces are accessed via Engelbert-Sundermann-Straße in the south.
