Description

Lot 3 Analyses of organic environmental contaminants in food This is the 3rd of 5 Lots under the proposed framework. General: 1. The aim of this Framework tender is to appoint a single preferred contractor per Lot for the retail sampling of food and for the analyses of inorganic contaminants, organic environmental contaminants and process contaminants. 2. Many of the Food Standards Agency's sampling and analytical needs are similar in nature and appointing preferred contractors would mean that a separate tender would not be needed for each project that required sampling and/or analyses of inorganic, organic environmental and process contaminants. This approach would provide for greater efficiency and flexibility in setting up new surveys and research projects, especially where there are time constraints. 3. Contracts setting out the standard terms and conditions and price per sample would be set up between the Agency and the preferred contractors for a period of four years. 4. Individual projects would be ‘called off’ these contracts by the Agency, as required, by agreeing a scope of work and pricing schedule with the appointed contractors for each specific survey. 5. These ‘call-off contracts’ would not place an obligation on the Agency to use the preferred contractors for all sampling and analyses and no funding would be guaranteed by the Agency to these contracts.
