Description

Oslo municipality owns Ingierstrand bath in Nordre Follo municipality. The Agency for Urban Environment manages the actual swimming facility and free area, while the Agency for Real Estate and Urban Renewal (EBY) manages the restaurant building at Ingierstrand bath (Ingierstrandveien 30). Ingierstrand bath was designed by architects Ole Lind Schistad and Eivind Moestue in 1931 on behalf of the Ingier family. Ingierstrand bath is a comprehensive, functionalist swimming facility with very high architectonic and cultural historical value. Built in funkis style, Ingierstrand bath is award-winning and internationally known as one of the foremost examples of Norwegian functionalist architecture. The facility was protected by the Directorate of Cultural Heritage in 2012. The building was restored in 2011/2012, where the restaurant building was recreated the way it was new in 1934 - with original material use and original colours. This work took place in close cooperation with the Directorate of Cultural Heritage. The entire swimming pool, including the restaurant building (internal and external), is listed. Ingierstrand restaurant has been rented out since 2013 and has been returned to EBY in spring 2025. Work has been ongoing at the property autumn 2025/winter 2026, including maintenance work such as painting and sanding the floor. Until now there have been local water and sewage systems for Ingierstrand baths. Oslo municipality is working to connect the municipality ́s properties in Ingierstrand bathrooms in autumn 2025, including the restaurant building, to the public water and sewage network. The work in progress includes necessary adaptations inside the restaurant building to connect the public water and sewage system. The building will be ready for takeover during spring 2026, this will be agreed further with the future tenant.
