Description

When the planning programme of the Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency was drawn up, the need to investigate in more detail the renovation, improvement and development needs of certain railway yards and their appropriate extent, taking into account changes in the operating environment, was identified. The aim of the task is to identify the needs that arise especially in each railway yard and line section, which may be related to passenger transport, freight transport, maintenance of railway tracks or development of the surrounding land use, and to prepare railway yard reports on the aforementioned needs. Due to the limited space and concentration of operations, for example, railway yard projects have significant interdependencies, so responding to individual needs can lead to large-scale projects. In the study, it is essential to clarify what are the key needs of each railway yard and what measures should be taken at the same time. It is also important to look for smaller measures that aim at the efficient use of existing infrastructure and only lead to minor improvement needs, which provide flexibility to respond agilely to, for example, possible changes in traffic flows. The timing of measures may also be influenced by the timing of the development of the surrounding land use. The study is divided into two parts, for which different factors are put out to tender. Sub-task 1 includes items 1A-1F and sub-task 2 items 2A-2E. The successful tenderer will receive part 1 (items 1A-1F) and second-placed part 2 (items 2A-2E). The scope of the sub-areas is described in more detail in the tender documents. The content of the task is described in more detail in the tender documents.
