Description

In the district of Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen, between Treuchtlingen and the district border with the district of Roth, the Ansbach State Building Office is planning a continuous 3-lane extension of the federal road 2 (B 2). In the area of the Weißenburg bypass, the Bundesstraße 13 (B 13) and the Kreisstraße WUG 1 are currently entering the B 2 at the same height, controlled by a light signal system. This is the so-called Eichstätter intersection. The object of the project is the height-free conversion of this intersection. It is provided to pass through the B 2 in low position below the intersection area. Above this low location, a roundabout with access and exit ramps on both sides is created to link the B 13 and the WUG 1 district road with the B 2. Due to the lowering of the B 2, a trough structure (groundwater basin BW1) with supporting walls adjoining to the south (BW7.1 + BW7.2) and two so-called lid structures (BW2 + BW3) are required to transfer the roundabout. To the north-east of the junction next to junction ramp 3, an underground operating building (BW4) will be built, with the help of which surface water accruing in parts of the present road planning will be transported onward. In addition, a new retention ground filter and rain retention basin will be created north of the B 2 on the open area between the Römerbrunnenweg and the street ‘Am Volkammersbach’. In this basin, among other things, the water arriving from the company building via a pressure pipe is cleaned. The walkway and cycle path overpass, the so-called Wülzburgsteg, located about 70 m north of the Eichstätter intersection, is demolished and rebuilt about 8 m further north of its current location (BW5). During the construction period, a temporary bridge will also be built over the planned construction-time bypass east of the B2 in order to maintain the operation of the footpath and cycle path crossing the B2. 60 m south of the Eichstätter intersection existing walkway and cycle path underpass is also demolished. It is moved about 90 m to the south and rebuilt there, in the existing dimensions and adapted to the new situation (BW6). In order to minimize or completely avoid the interventions in adjacent private land, a retaining wall (BW8) is produced along the connecting ramp 2 (south-west side). The existing gabion wall along the adjacent Kaufland area in the northwest is demolished and also replaced by a new retaining wall (BW9). Active noise protection measures (noise barriers BW10+BW11+BW13+BW14, noise barriers BW12) are also planned. These are required in all quadrants and are built either on the roadside, on ramparts or on structures. The construction line starts at B 2_2330_0,013 (construction km 0-258) in the southwest with a noise barrier. In the north, the construction line ends at B 2_2360_0,367 (= start of the threading track at construction km 0+627) and later passes as a 3-lane cross-section (RQ 15,5) into the subsequent construction phase ‘3-lane extension Eichstätter Kreuzung – Weißenburg-Nord’, which is currently being planned. Until the realization of this future neighbouring section, the connection takes place via a 230 m long provisional connection to the two-striped stock of the B 2, the end of which is at B 2_2360_0,597 (construction km 0+857). The drive-in ramp of the B2 connection ‘Römerbrunnenweg’ in the direction of Nuremberg, which is located southwest of the Eichstätter intersection, is adapted and guided to ramp 1 as a structurally separate threading strip in order to avoid a linkage strip. The B 13 will be adapted over a length of 100 m to the changed conditions on site as a result of the project, with WUG 1 requiring corresponding adaptations over a distance of 90 m. In order to maintain traffic, a construction site bypass of approximately 610 m east of the B 2 is planned during the estimated construction period of 3 years. This is intended to ensure the traffic continuity of the B 2, the B 13 and the WUG 1 for the most part during the construction period. The height-free conversion of the Eichstätter intersection is to be carried out in two construction phases, the construction phase NORD and SÜD. The approved planning approval decision has already been issued for the height-free conversion of the B 2, Augsburg – Nuremberg, in Weißenburg. In the course of planning and construction, construction site examinations and preservation of evidence must be carried out. In the run-up to the construction work, a building must be demolished. Comprehensive measures for the redeployment of sewers, water, gas and cables have to be planned and also accompanied during the execution.
