Germany-Weimar: Engineering services

The ‘Ensemble Goethe-Wohnhaus’ is part of the National Museum and consists of the (pre-) Gothic buildings of Goethe’s residence, the two neighbouring Vulpius houses, the garden pavilion and the stone pavilion, as well as the gatehouse. Furthermore, the house garden is part of the project. Despite constant maintenance and ongoing maintenance, the individual buildings of the ensemble require a thorough overhaul. This is to be combined with a new concept of the museum presentation and staging of the residential complex, which must meet a strongly changed visitor population as well as changed perspectives on Goethe and German history, requirements through digitization, inclusion and other requirements on modern museum and memory cultural concepts. New insights into historical layers of time, the furnishing and use of the rooms as well as the collections are also incorporated into the new concept. The Klassik Stiftung Weimar is therefore planning the ‘renovation and museum redesign’ of the Goethe-Wohnhaus ensemble. In the course of the repair, the buildings are also to be adapted to a modern technical standard. For this purpose, experienced and conceptually strong planners in various disciplines are sought in the field of monuments. The museum extensions created in the 20th century are not part of the planned measure, but must be understood as inseparable from the entire ensemble and its history. At the structural interfaces, these buildings are to be considered. According to the cost estimate before the start of planning from the feasibility study for the project Ensemble Goethe-Wohnhaus - Monument-appropriate repair and museum redesign, an estimated total amount of € 15.7 million (gross) was determined for the cost groups 200-600 (DIN 276). The cost groups 300-400, which are primarily concerned with construction, amount to approximately € 9.4 million (gross). Construction is scheduled to start in early 2026. The place of performance is Weimar. Part of the tendered planning service are engineering services, structural design according to §§ 49 ff HOAI 2021.
