Description

Administrative educational services. Guidance services. Leicester City Council wishes to appoint an organisation to provide a parent partnership service which will: (1) Ensure that parents and carers of children with special educational needs (SEN) have access to information, advice and guidance on SEN matters to allow them to make informed decisions about their child's education, (2) Inform and empower parents/carers of childern with SEN in both the individual and service planning of the educational provision for their children.
All local authorities (LAs) have a statutory duty to provide information and support to parents of children with Special Educational Needs (SEN). This should be provided by dedicated staff working separately from the LA's SEN team so parents are assured that the information is impartial, and that the people they are receiving it from are not involved in the SEN decision making process.
The role of the Parent Partnership Service is:
— To ensure that parents and carers of children with special educational needs (SEN) have access to information and guidance on SEN matters to allow them to make informed decisions about their child's education,
— To inform and empower parents/carers of children with SEN in both the individual and service planning of the educational provision for their children.
