Redesign of green and open spaces, road construction work, Alfred-Delp-Quartier
In 2020, the city council of the city of Donauwörth drew up the development plan "Alfred-Delp-Quartier, 1. BA" initiated the development of an innovative, sustainable residential location on the Schellenberg, east of the old town. The former site of the 'Alfred Delp Barracks', whose military use ended in 2013, is of great importance for the further structural and urban development of Donauwörth. The new residential quarter will serve as a connection and joint between the Parkstadt district and the city centre of Donauwörth. The special landscape location on the hilltop and the terracing with the extensive wooded stands are the unique selling point of the 'Alfred-Delp-Quartiere', which is to be developed as a 'green quarter' with a very own character. The green and parking areas to be designed fulfil important functions for heavy rain management in the district and leisure and recreation use. In a first construction phase, the following areas are designed: - the southern landscape park with the large retention basins of heavy rain management and diverse action and - the southernmost part of the 'Green Fugue', which serves the heavy rain runoff but also the stay - the 'Bastion' as a landmark and viewpoint in the north - the road connection through the ground monument Sternschanze in the west The landscape park south, the southern part of the Green Fugue and the bastion in the north of the Alfred-Delp-Quartier become part of the Landesgartenschau Donauwörth 2028. Completion by the end of 2027 is therefore imperative.
