Description

In the basic contract relating to the project with FKZ 50WP1106 ‘SKIN B – Construction and qualification of a measuring instrument for human physiological research in the ISS’ phase C/D, a hardware (HW) was built, consisting of one flight model (proto-flight model, PFM) and three ground models (BDCM, basic data collection model), ground model (GM) and training model (TRM). The HW carries out and enables a German experiment in the field of human physiological research.
As planned, the PFM will be brought to the International Space Station on 2.4.2013, scheduled and implemented by ESA, for use there.
While the ground models are in use at three stations on Earth after completion (July-August 2012), the aircraft model will be left to ESA after successful qualification.
The basic agreement was concluded between DLR RFM and Kayser-Threde GmbH with effect from 1 September 2011 to 30 November 2012. The additional work is planned to be carried out in the period 1.9.2012 until the new end of 31 January 2013. In order to carry out additional work that has proven to be urgently needed in the project run (a number of additional tests on the PFM as part of the qualification process as well as the associated management tasks need to be completed), an increase in the existing FE contract is necessary. The additional services to be provided are:
1. Management and planning:
— Supporting the planning of the necessary additional tests;
— Preparation of the additional documentation;
— Review of the additional documentation;
— Test Readyness Review & Close Out in relation to the additional tests.
2. Tests:
— Ultrabay Adapter and HDDs (Preparation & Environmental Tests);
— Magnetic Fields;
— Electrostatic Discharge Testing and Analysis;
— Pressurised test;
— Thermal Analysis;
— Single Event Radiation Assessment.
