Provision of Public Bus Services on certain routes serving the Dublin-Kildare and Dublin-Laois commuter corridors.
This notice is to inform operators of public bus services that the Authority intends to invite tenders for operation of public bus services on certain commuter routes operating between Dublin and various locations in Kildare and Laois. The successful operator will take over the operation of commuter services on the following Routes: 120,125,126 and 130. It is envisaged that the duration of the contract will be five years, with an option to extend to a maximum of seven (7) years. The contract is envisaged to be “gross cost” whereby the operator remits all fares revenue to the Authority. The operator will be responsible for the provision of a secure depot or depots for the duration of the contract. The Authority intends to provide the operator with the coach fleet with which to operate the services. The fleet will be equipped with ticketing and automatic vehicle location systems (amongst other systems). The operator will be responsible for the maintenance of the vehicle fleet for the duration of the contract. A mobilisation period will be provided. The Services to be provided by the operator under the contract will be defined by a service specification. Other currently envisaged key provisions of the contract include operating the services to meet certain punctuality, reliability and quality service performance standards, the collection and reconciliation of passenger fare revenue, provision of customer care services, and provide operational data to input to the Authority’s passenger information, journey planning systems and its contractual performance monitoring systems. By way of background information only, the current contract requires the operation of c 3 million kilometres per annum, and the services are operated by a mixed single and double deck low floor coach fleet.
