In 2011, the municipality was informed for the first time about the abandonment of military use by the Bundeswehr at the Penzing air base. Since then, the participating municipalities have developed a sustainable development concept for the reuse of the former airfield area in several steps and on the basis of various expert reports. The special purpose association area61 Innovationspunkt Penzing intends to award technical project management services as part of a military conversion.
