Competition for the implementation of the Orangerie Entrance and Gastronomy Building in Grugapark
New entrance and catering building in the Grugapark Essen as a VgV negotiation procedure with upstream planning competition according to RPW 2013 The city of Essen intends to realize a replacement building for the so-called orangery in the Grugapark built in the 1980s. The existing buildings with catering use and entrance function of the orangery are not fit for renovation and are to be demolished. The adjacent building of the former terrarium, which houses parts of the Grugapark administration and the extracurricular learning location Schule Natur, is to be preserved as far as possible and integrated into the overall concept. Among other things, the construction project is part of the further development of the gastronomy in the Grugapark. As a building block of the park development concept "Grugapark - Enthusiastic for Green", it was unanimously adopted by the Essen City Council in May 2022. The completion of the project is planned by the city of Essen at the latest until the celebration of the 100th anniversary of GrugaparkS in 2029. The construction costs of cost groups 2 to 5 for the construction project are estimated at approximately EUR 10 million net (as at Q2/2023). The aim is to certify the building with the DGNB-Platinum Standard, but at least Standard Gold.
