Germany-Bochum: Diffraction apparatus
The Chair of Technical Chemistry and the Chair of Analytical Chemistry have received specific funding from the DFG as part of a HBFG application. This appropriation is intended to procure an in-situ X-ray tdiffractometer with high temperature chamber and sample changer (in-situ XRD).
The use includes scientific analyses from the different areas of inorganic chemistry (e.g. heterogeneous catalysis) and electrochemistry. The in-situ XRD aims at analysing and quantifying heterogeneous catalysts and researching the behaviour of the catalysts in relation to atmosphere, temperature and pressure. In addition, it should be possible to determine the nanostructures by means of small angle dispersion (e.g. particle size distribution).
The application areas require a high resolution XRD and a reaction chamber that allows temperatures up to 900 °C. In addition, the analysis to air, under reducing conditions, must:
