Description

The roads de Fer Luxembourgeois (CFL) are planning a comprehensive project to upgrade the Howald judgment in the 1st phase (Howald – phase 1b). It consists of the construction of a new quay (quay No 01), with a length of 290 m, on the route of the main tracks towards France. The insertion of the new quay requires adaptation of the tracks and railway installations (platform, catenaries, signals, tracks). Access to the quay will be via a new walkway, accessible from the Cactus shopping centre car park, equipped with a lift and staircases.
The power supply of the equipment requires the installation of an electrical transformer station and the construction of an access path from the motorway exchanger. This access will also serve as a site runway.
The project must be carried out by maintaining as many tracks as possible. As a result, many works will be carried out near roads with traffic.
Key figures:
Mixed platform (prefabricated side parts and backfilled central part) with a length of 290 m.
Galvanised steel walkway with glass walls 43 m long, equipped with a staircase and a lift.
Adjustment of the track line and railway platform over a cumulative length of approximately 2 000 ml.
