United Kingdom-Wolverhampton: Asbestos-removal work
This tender comprises the remediation of contaminated rear gardens (and front gardens at certain locations) at 81 properties on a residential estate in Wolverhampton. The gardens are contaminated with asbestos, lead and mercury as follows: 79 gardens for asbestos. 1 garden for mercury alone. 1 garden for lead alone. An excavation and removal (dig and dump) approach has been determined as the most appropriate form of remediation, primarily due to the nature of the contaminants that are present, but also because of the residential nature of the site. Since asbestos is the principle contaminant that this remediation exercise will address, the successful contractor must ensure that either they or their subcontractors are suitably licensed in accordance with the appropriate regulations as set out in the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2006. Such licences shall be obtained at the cost of the contractor, and shall not be reimbursed by the Council. It will be the responsibility of the licensed contractor or sub-contractor to notify the relevant enforcing authority office 14 days before any remediation work commences on site. In this instance, the appropriate enforcing authority will be the Health and Safety Executive.
