Wastewater disposal Kappeln GmbH (AKG) operates the dirty and rainwater sewer network of the city of Kappeln. In addition to the central city centre, the wastewater from outside districts is also disposed of at the central wastewater treatment plant. A part of the districts of Kappeln is located on the peninsula Schwansen, so that the city of Kappeln is separated by the Schlei, an inlet of the Baltic Sea.
